Marek Ander Narusk is a graduate of the EWERS carpentry program who, after completing his vocational secondary education, continued his studies at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, majoring in wood products technology. <\/h3>\n\n

1. Why did I choose to study carpentry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

My interest in woodworking began back in elementary school, where we made wooden cars, boats, and other objects. At the time, I wasn\u2019t very motivated, and my projects didn\u2019t always turn out well, but as I got older, my interest began to grow steadily. So I made a conscious decision to pursue woodworking. <\/p>\n\n

The carpentry program offered the opportunity to see the entire process\u2014from the initial idea to the finished product. That seemed much more interesting to me than just theory or work where the scope for imagination is limited. <\/p>\n\n

My interest in making my own acoustic guitar or something similar has gradually grown. Maybe I’ll even take lessons somewhere, but so far I haven’t found anything very promising. <\/p>\n\n

2. How would I describe my time in school?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

All in all, the study period was very educational. I especially remember the hands-on classes and the teachers, who knew how to both challenge and support us. At first, I was intimidated by the responsibility for the work and the machines\u2014especially when it came to the quality of the work\u2014but that\u2019s exactly what helped prepare me for my future career. <\/p>\n\n

Of course, the course was also very supportive. In addition to the intense work, we also had a lot of fun with the group. <\/p>\n\n

I also have particularly fond memories of the competitions where I had to pretty much force myself to participate at first, but which, in hindsight, provided me with a very valuable experience and a boost to my self-confidence.<\/p>\n\n

3. What did I do after I graduated?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

After graduation, I decided to continue my studies at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, majoring in wood processing technology. The knowledge I gained at vocational school helped me understand the topics covered in my university courses much better. Vocational education provided a strong foundation upon which I can build my knowledge in college and move toward more technical roles. <\/p>\n\n

I believe that choosing your own path is important, but what’s more important is that you keep moving forward and don’t stand still.<\/p>\n\n

In the 2026\/2027 academic year <\/strong>, middle school graduates will be able to <\/strong>enroll for the first time in the wood products technology<\/strong> program at EWERS.
