His interest in woodworking began in middle school, and his studies at EWERS only deepened that interest. Eik has also been a WERMO scholarship recipient for two years.  <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. Why did I choose to study carpentry?<\/strong><br\/>I first became interested in carpentry back in middle school during my technology classes\u2014those were my absolute favorite classes. In those classes, we got to make all kinds of cool wooden objects, and that\u2019s where my desire to create things with my own two hands really took root. For my 8th-grade research project, I built a wooden pinwheel, and for my 9th-grade final project, we worked on a team assignment where I had to build a small wooden bridge that could support all of our body weights.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enrolling at Ewers gave me a new opportunity to learn more about wood\u2014not just about the carpentry trade, but also how to apply that knowledge in a practical way in the school\u2019s machine shop.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. How would I describe my time in school?<\/strong><br\/>I\u2019m very happy with my studies! So far at school, I\u2019ve been able to do exactly what I was hoping to do before I enrolled\u2014I was hoping to do more woodworking, and that\u2019s exactly what I\u2019ve been able to do. We\u2019ve built furniture and a bike shed for the school, and I\u2019ve had personal projects that I\u2019ve been able to work on in the school workshop. Our activities haven\u2019t been limited to working behind machines in the workshop or in the arts and crafts classroom; knowledge is also an important part of a carpenter\u2019s work: the theory of wood cutting, understanding the properties of wood, drafting, mathematics, and so on. I am grateful to my teachers and classmates; the teachers have taught me everything I need to know and be able to do, and they have supported and helped me whenever I\u2019ve gotten stuck on something. Right now, my final months of school are approaching, along with my final project, which will give me the opportunity to put everything I\u2019ve learned to the test, pass my vocational exam, and craft my final project piece.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. What did I do after I graduated?<\/strong><br\/>After graduating, I started working at AS Wermos. I had completed my second- and third-year internships at Wermos, which gave me enough experience to continue working there. I\u2019m definitely interested in continuing my studies\u2014for example, pursuing a Level 5 degree\u2014but for now, I\u2019ve decided to get a job and earn some money. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the 2026\/2027 academic year <\/strong>, middle school graduates <strong>will be able to <\/strong>enroll for the first time in EWERS\u2019s <strong>wood products technology<\/strong> program.
