Urvaste study center

Classes are held Monday through Friday.

There are 6–8 classes on each school day.

Each class lasts 45 minutes.

In class, the main emphasis is on hands-on activities:

• setting the table, clearing the table, washing dishes
• preparing simple meals
• various cleaning and tidying tasks
• work experience outside of school

Duration of study: 2 years.

The school cafeteria serves meals four times a day: breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner.

The school cafeteria is located in the same building as the school.

The food is reasonably priced and tastes just like home!

School Lunch Assistance

The school lunch subsidy is 1€ per student.

Students are eligible for the grant if they:

• is enrolled in a full-time program;
• is enrolled in the elementary education program;
• does not have a secondary education.

It is not possible to go to the store.

The government pays study grants to students in vocational education to support and encourage their educational pursuits.

Basic Support

Students can apply for the basic grant for five months of study twice per academic year—in September and February. First-year students cannot apply for grants during their first semester—they do not yet have academic results on which to base the ranking and grant allocation.

The basic allowance is 60 € per month.

Special Support

A student whose ability to continue their studies is hindered by their financial situation may apply for special financial aid.

A properly completed application for special financial aid must be submitted to the course instructor by September 15 and February 15 at the latest.

Reimbursement of Travel Expenses

Students are reimbursed for travel expenses related to the use of public transportation based on their tickets.

Support services play an important role in helping students with special educational needs acquire professional skills, develop daily living skills, and become more independent.

The staff at Urvaste School support students with special educational needs in various after-school activities and at the dormitory.

Our support services team includes:

• course instructor
• vocational teacher and special education teacher
• vocational teacher
• social educator-counselor
• psychologist-counselor
• Activity leaders for extracurricular groups
• residential advisors at the dormitory

Each study group has its own course instructor.

Social educators/counselors, psychologists/counselors, and course instructors support and assist students on a daily basis with various issues, such as:

• The student has concerns that interfere with their learning and school attendance;
• the student has accumulated absences and academic deficiencies;
• The student lacks motivation;
• the student has had conflicts with classmates or teachers;
• The student is troubled by a problem he or she cannot solve on his or her own.

Just as:

• The student feels lonely, tired, and anxious;
• The student lacks self-confidence and faith in his or her ability to cope, and is insecure;
• the student has learning difficulties;
• The student has difficulty managing his or her emotions;
• The student feels fear toward something that prevents him or her from fulfilling school obligations or functioning normally;
• The student feels that they would like to talk about their relationship with a teacher, classmate, or family member;
• The student would like to discuss his or her future and educational opportunities;
• The student wants to get to know themselves better (their personality, abilities, etc.);
• The student has a concern they’d like to talk about.

The dormitory has rooms for two, three, and four people.

In each room, each resident of the dormitory has their own bed and nightstand.

The chairs, closet, desk, and bathroom with a shower are for shared use.

You may use your personal computer and radio in the room, but we recommend that you discuss the use of these devices with your counselor and roommates beforehand.

Vocational students have their own lounges for spending their free time and watching TV.

Students are not allowed to stay in the dormitory during class hours .

Quiet hours at the dormitory are from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

The student dormitory provides a supportive environment for vocational students to develop social skills, study, engage in self-improvement, socialize, participate in extracurricular activities, enjoy their free time, and relax.

The possession, use, and bringing into the dormitory of tobacco products, lighting devices, e-cigarettes, alcoholic and energy drinks, and narcotic substances is prohibited.

The student should bring any medications or dietary supplements prescribed by a family doctor or specialist from home and give them to the course instructor or counselor.

Medications are stored in a locked cabinet and administered to the student according to the treatment plan.
