From Practice

An internship is a required part of your studies, during which you’ll have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in school in a real-world work setting. During your internship, with the help of a mentor, you’ll perform various work tasks, develop your professional skills, and become familiar with how the workplace operates.

The objectives and tasks of the internship are outlined in your internship plan. The internship is carried out in collaboration between you, the school, and the company. Before the internship begins, you will sign an internship agreement with the internship site and the school, and you will be assigned a supervisor from both the school and the company. The internship site must provide you with the necessary guidance and a safe work environment.

In full-time programs and applied secondary education curricula, the school determines the duration of the internship. In part-time study, you agree on the timing of the internship with the host company, based on your own and the company’s availability, as well as the internship requirements specified in the curriculum.

For Students

An internship gives you the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in school in a real-world work environment, develop your professional skills, and gain experience in your future field. To ensure the success of your internship, prepare well in advance, choose a company that’s suitable for completing your internship program, and agree with your school and the host company on the internship’s goals, tasks, and logistics.

When looking for an internship and during your internship, you’ll have the support of the internship coordinator and your company internship supervisor. Ask for help right away if anything is unclear or if you encounter a problem at your internship.

To the Host Company

Work-based training is an essential part of vocational education, because it is precisely in a real-world work environment that students can apply the knowledge they have acquired in school and develop the skills necessary for their future careers. Internships help students understand how their field of study is organized in practice, develop independence, and receive feedback from experienced professionals. For a company, hosting an intern provides an opportunity to contribute to the preparation of future employees and to get to know potential new hires. Cooperation between schools and companies helps ensure that vocational education meets the actual needs of the workforce.
