Mechatronics (Level 5 Vocational Education)
A mechatronics engineer is a key specialist in the modern world of technology who brings complex machines to life and makes them move. This profession brings together three exciting fields: mechanics, electronics, and software (IT). If you’re interested in robotics, automation, and smart systems, and want to learn how to create devices that make our daily lives and industry more efficient, then this field is perfect for you.
Duration of Study: A substantive and comprehensive curriculum totaling 120 ECTS credits (lasting an average of 2 years), including a significant portion (30 ECTS credits) dedicated to an internship in a real-world work environment.
Note: If you are enrolled in a mechatronics program, you are also eligible to apply for the TOFTAN scholarship.
*This field of study can also be pursued through on-the-job training.
What exactly do you study and do?
- Computer-Aided Design and Drafting: You will learn to read and create technical drawings using professional graphics software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Equipment Assembly and Installation: You identify and connect pneumatic and hydraulic components, sensors, and actuators. You will build and maintain electrical installations and automation systems, performing tasks such as electrical assembly work (including soldering and tinning).
- Programming and Commissioning: You will learn to program programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives, and industrial robots using various programming languages. You will commission and test the systems you have created.
- Smart Solutions: You’ll visualize complex manufacturing processes on a computer screen and learn about building automation (such as KNX systems).
- Work Safety and Organization: You will learn to work safely, including in challenging conditions (chemically aggressive environments), perform calculations, organize your work, and develop skills for effective teamwork.
Course Options:
The curriculum places a strong emphasis on acquiring basic skills in mechatronics and does not offer separate areas of specialization. However, through elective courses (up to 18 ECTS credits), you can deepen your knowledge: for example, you can choose robotics, visualization, heat pumps and HVAC systems, or even entrepreneurship.
