Preparatory education is intended for young people who are not yet ready to choose a curriculum on their own or who lack the necessary skills—for example, those who have completed basic school, dropped out of school, are unemployed, or have limited proficiency in Estonian. Individuals who are at least 17 years old and lack a basic education may also apply.
The curriculum employs methods and resources tailored to individual needs and provides guidance as well as academic and career counseling to support informed decisions about the future. Students are helped to discover their strengths and interests, are introduced to educational paths and career opportunities, develop learning skills, and are motivated to engage in lifelong learning. If necessary, their Estonian language skills are improved.
Throughout the curriculum, students will be introduced to various fields of study, acquire foundational knowledge in both theory and practice, and develop communication and career planning skills. Graduates will be able to communicate, collaborate, and adapt to various social situations; they will understand the importance of counseling and will be able to use the Internet and basic computer applications.
